BEFORE   AFTER

This 41 year-old woman was unhappy with her drooping breasts. With age, her breasts had lost both volume and shape, and her nipple s had begun to point downward. When she began to research plastic surgeons near Montgomery, Alabama, she was impressed with how much effort Dr. Beckenstein and his staff put into her comprehensive consultation. Dr. Beckenstein provided clear, specific details about her breast lift procedure options, along with the benefits and risks associated with each approach. After her consultation, this patient was confident with her plastic surgery decision.

There are several degrees of sagging, or "ptosis," which surgeons evaluate based on the position of the nipple on the breast mound. For smaller breasts, if ptosis is very mild and the nipple is close to its "normal" position, Dr. Beckenstein may suggest a breast augmentation to improve the breast shape. In this patient’s case, her nipple had descended below the inframammary fold (the crease below the breast), so Dr. Beckenstein recommended a breast lift to restore the aesthetic shape of her breast. He performed an "inverted T"-type mastopexy. This procedure removes excess skin and repositions the breast tissue to create a more youthful and aesthetically pleasing look without the use of implants.

This patient experienced a typical recovery. Most patients undergoing a Montgomery breast enlargement or breast lift can expect some soreness for a few days following surgery, but should be up and about in 48-72 hours. For the first two to three weeks, breasts can be sensitive to direct stimulation. After that, breast contact should be fine, though this will depend on how quickly a patient’s body tends to heal. Most breast lift patients are able to return to work within a week.
