Alabama Plastic Surgery Practice First to be Certified Green

An Alabama Plastic Surgery Practice, First to Certified Green was awarded their certificate by MyGreenDoctor.org. Michael S. Beckenstein, M.D. LLC is the Birmingham, Alabama practice who earned this distinction by participating and completing the requirements to obtain this certification. When asked about this, Dr. Beckenstein replied ” We all need to step up and help as much as we can. I thought about how my medical practice can help and I sought out My Green Doctor for advice. They have a great, comprehensive approach to educating an office staff about how to think about, and how to engage issues of conservation, waste and energy. There is a lot we can EASILY do!  He adds ” My staff and I have held scheduled meetings, which are required for certification, about this where we discussed, recorded, and assigned members tasks and responsibilities. This is broken down into five categories that we focus on. We even reach out to patients to educate them as well. We can be a source to spread awareness on these issues. It is easy to accomplish and maintain the discipline to do so. No medical practice is too busy to do this and it costs nothing!”

The “green movement, in medicine is growing and individual medical practices can make a huge contribution to conservation, by not only actively participating but educating patients as well. Millions of people, each year, visit doctors’ offices and if a small percentage is influenced and joins in, that would be significant.
