Medical Micropigmentation Symposium Coming to Birmingham

A major micropigmentation symposium is coming to Birmingham, Alabama, this October! This will be the first of its kind in the United States and has an international faculty filled with innovators in the field. The event is hosted by Birmingham cosmetic surgery specialist and plastic surgeon, Michael S. Beckenstein, M.D., who has teamed up with world renowned cosmetic tattooist, Andrea Darby, from Melbourne, Australia.

Dr. Beckenstein said of Ms. Darby, “I know Andrea as one of the best cosmetic tattooist in the world. I have so much respect for her that I arranged to have her come to my practice and train me and my staff in her amazing techniques. Since then, we have developed a professional relationship between our practices. This is where the idea of this symposium was born. We are assembling an amazing staff international staff who are respected experts in their field. Andrea will be here, as well as microblading expert Tina Davies. She will demonstrate her technique of eyebrow microblading.”

This is a medically oriented meeting that will address clinical issues, safety issues, and educate the audience on competent practices. There will be live technique demonstrations on 3D nipple areolar tattooing as well as microblading.

Dr. Beckenstein stated, “This symposium combines a unique blend of practitioners and their respective expertise. We have a plastic surgeon, anesthesiologist, cosmetic and medical tattooists, as well as experts in micropigmentation science coming together. It is unusual yet it will provide a great experience for the attendees. This combination has never been out there teaching before!”

The two day event will consist of a day  of didactic educational sessions including, safe techniques, topical anesthesia, breast reconstruction, hair loss and restoration, eye brow restoration, nipple areolar reconstruction, microblading, pigmentation science, and other topics. The second day will be full of live procedure demonstrations.

“Attendees will leave with a sound, knowledge base about these topics. We see this as becoming an annual event that will grow,” Dr. Beckenstein said about the event.
