Our world is constantly evolving and so are we. The traditional thinking of plastic surgery patients is to “help me look young again.” Luckily, we can reduce the telltale signs of aging and create a more youthful appearance using dermal fillers such as JUVÉDERM® and BOTOX® injections at our Birmingham, Alabama practice.
But what if people start saying “Keep me looking young” and not progress to the point of an aged appearance? Can this be accomplished? The answer is YES! Let’s take a look at why this is true.
What causes wrinkles?
Among the earliest signs of facial aging are the lines that form on the forehead and around the eyes, known as “frown lines” and “crows feet.” These lines, often called dynamic wrinkles, are the result of the muscles we use for making facial expressions. The more we use them, over time, the more these lines become apparent, usually becoming noticeable in the mid to late 20s.
Preventing dynamic wrinkles
By injecting a low dose neurotoxin such as BOTOX into these regions, these lines can be prevented over the long term, especially if you begin injectables at a younger age. The earlier these injections are performed, the lower the dose and intervals required.
Deeper facial lines and folds
Folds that deepen in the crease connecting the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth (nasolabial fold) is another sign of progressive aging. As we age, the soft tissue slides down from the upper face and settles along this area, creating that deep crease.
What is best for deeper wrinkles?
Early on, dermal fillers can be used in low doses to counter these deepening folds, maintaining your youthful appearance.
As I just mentioned, the soft tissues from the upper face migrate down and settle along the nasolabial area and jaw region, creating “jowling” and the downward lines by the corner of your mouth (marionette lines). Again, fillers are a great way to maintain youthful looks and counter the soft tissue migration. The earlier injectable fillers are used, the less is required and you maintain the youthful look you desire.
Dermal fillers can also address other signs of aging such as lost volume in the face, restoring fullness, and reducing the appearance of “sunken” cheeks. You can read more about this option in our related blog post.
So, if you are in your mid to late 20s, 30s, and older you should start to think about “keep me looking young.” There are easy, safe, and affordable ways to maintain your youthful looks for decades!
Women and men considering BOTOX and dermal fillers travel from Huntsville, Montgomery, and throughout Alabama to look as young as they feel.
